The Marathon is now in Framingham, Ma. 91 years ago, in 1907, this was the mile where a train cut off the majority of the runners and separated the lead men from the rest of the pack. This train station, designed by H.H. Richardson, is a good landmark on this leg of the race.

FOR SPECTATORS
Get to know the neighborhood around Mile Marker 5.
After 4 miles of downhill (and a drop of nearly 300 feet), mile 5 presents the first sustained uphill, which actually should feel good (using different muscles). You will climb approximately 40 feet the first 8/10 of this mile and then drop 20 feet the last 2/10.
Alot of spectators gather near the train station to watch the race.
